About Us

The San Francisco Women's Housing Coalition is made up of organizations, advocates, and stakeholders who work toward providing sustainable housing for unhoused women in the San Francisco, Bay Area. We support families, youth, and adults who seek transitional and permanent housing, and support services including case management, therapy, job training, education services, legal and medical support. We work with local lawmakers and community groups to provide the most comprehensive accommodation support for women seeking housing.

In San Francisco today, the trends of homelessness, COVID-19 pandemic, and the displacement and the lack of services for women coming out of the criminal justice system has increased the number of women who find themselves homeless on the streets of San Francisco. Studies have shown that women and men experience homelessness in different ways and women are at increased vulnerability for violence.  Currently, the community-based organizations providing housing for women experiencing homelessness in San Francisco do not have the capacity or resources to meet the growing demand for their services. Therefore, Cameo House, the Mary Elizabeth Inn, and San Francisco SafeHouse have come together to advocate for increasing the resources to meet the unique and growing needs of homeless women in San Francisco.
